Lombok Trekking Travel Activity and Tips For Trekker

Lombok Trekking Travel Activity Round Senaru and Sembalun Village and Tips For Trekker

Policy applied in Lombok Trekking to minimize the impact of tourism to environment and a way to give back and preserve what we get from local people and environment:

Lombok Trekking Policies:

  1. We here local people from Sembalun Lawang village and senaru village. The best guides and porters are local because they know very well about environment, culture and other aspects.
  2. We realized that our staffs (guides and porters) not only work for us, but part of the company, so that we give only appropriate load weight for each porter and provide them proper clothes and jacket to adjust the cold temperature and suitable shelter while working.
  3.  In long term, we’re trying to provide our guides and porters with life insurance that could be also as life saving.
  4. All our porters oblige to bring all rubbish out, and we expect the same from our clients.
  5. We try to minimize using wood to cook.
  6. Dig hole for toilet tent minimum 150 m from water resources.
  7. Serve local food and drink in combination on our menu.

You have to knows about culture , and we recommended our client do it .

  1. Learn some basic words and phrases because this is the most effective and fastest way to get closer to local people. Check out our language section to learn simple and basic Indonesian.
  2. Ask permission before you take picture or video
  3. Tell local people that you think their village, children, dress, culture, or surrounding environments are beautiful or spectacular. This will inspire them to be proud of their culture and to protect the quality of their surrounding environment, hopefully providing an incentive to resist resource exploitation and westernization or lifestyle, and is preserving diversity
  4. Never give souvenirs or gifts (no matter how small its is) directly to children as this creating expectation and dependence that turns into disappointment when future travelers do not do the same. Alternatively, give them to their parents or teachers, local authorities or who you think can best distribute these items, or ask us that we can give to orphanage.
  5. Try to buy locally produced merchandise
  6. Don’t come into price negotiation if you’re not seriously intended to buy. Pay a fair price for the goods and services you buy, don’t go too far on bargaining. Our guides will help to inform you about reasonable price. We don’t get commission from shops we bring you or recommend to you to make sure you’re into fair trade.
  7. Support local community or environmental projects-rather than giving money to beggars.

Wildlife :

  1. Never touches, pat, handle, touch, or stretch your hand towards any wild or domestic animals.
  2. Some deceases and parasites are directly transferable from animals to human, and vice versa, especially to primates. If you are visiting a primate colony, wild or captive, you should be in top health with no chest ailments etc.
  3. Never feed the local wildlife. This can cause many serious problems for the animals and then create dependent on humans, displace other native species, and suffer starvation when the tourist season ends.
  4. Goes to the extent of straining dishwashing water to remove food particles to avoid animals take them.
  5. Please do not approach when watching or photographing animals in a way that causes them to alter their behavior. Your guide will recommend to you the best escape distance (for them and you!) for the specified animal and conditions as they are encountered
  6. Be sure never to surround, or crowd an animal or get between mother and off spring as these situations invariably result in defensive, stressful and unpredictable behavior from the animal
  7. Try to be as quiet as possible when around quiet animal. This increases the value of the experience to your group and limit the disturbance to the animals.

Environment:

  1. Do not buy products made from endangered species, hard woods, shells from beach traders, or ancient artifacts (which have probably been stolen)
  2. If you want to give gift, we courage you to give seeds of plants, flowers, vegetables to combine on our programs. This way could give value added to people and children to know plants from other countries. As for visitor, it could be long time and live memories
  3. Carry out litter, take bio-degradable soap, burn toilet paper, don’t throw away plastic bags
  4. Never collect hollow or partially buried/decomposed logs, these from perfect habitat for countless organisms and are creating soil.
  5. it’s not advisable to throw rubbish onto a cooking fire .plastics give off toxic fumes and aluminum foil burn fullv .both of these should
